Solar worked alongside Torfaen County Council during this exciting regeneration scheme designed to revitalise the much loved Pontypool market. The process saw the market undergo a complete overhaul with a diverse shopping experience created in an effort to ensure its continued success.

In order to provide traders with a secure stall when their shops are closed, Solar installed a vertical awning system onto every stall, creating a safe environment to leave their stock at close of trading, as well as the added look of professionalism that they naturally provide.

Solar’s vertical awning system contained vertical guide runners, reinforced profiles and a gearbox system to drive the blind. This ensured its robust and reliable qualities essential for a commercial setting. Locks were also installed on every awning, ensuring the security of the stall for traders, whilst like-keyed locks provided increased practicality for stall holders, as one key was enough to open all of their stall’s locks.

The project has been supported by the European Regional Development fund through the Welsh Government, Heritage lottery fund, Cadw and Pontypool regeneration partnership, proving a great success. Solar were pleased to take part in such an unusual project that will play an integral part in supporting the local community for many years.
